New forum and more...

Woots. its been so long since ei last got on my mac and used mar edit to actually blog… but /heh, that's another matter.

 

Decided to be a little hardworking and update my training grounds threads a LITTLE bit. Was looking for the chart with the exp and drop rate reduction and lo and behold… after like 5 mins of googling i realised that MY OWN BLOG had a copy of the patch notes and the chart. -.-''' sighs.

 

Anyways… haven been mapling for a long time… been on trickster quite some bit before i got bored too and stopped for a few days...

 

Anywayzzzzzz… what i wanted to talk about in this post is… some more stuff abt the new forums.

Ok, here's a random, point form style shout out on what i feel about the new forums. In absolutely no order of importance...

1) The new forums is laggy. Yup, still lags, and lag = sucks. Not like SUPER DEPER laggy kind, but laggy enough to get people irritated.

2) There's a new twitter button when using the full editor

You type in ur twitter userid in the box...

and it auto inserts the code for you like this

and the end result?

it auto links the text to your twitter profile!

eh?

cool, nifty…. but like… when will i ever use it???? like never? o.o

 

3) [youtube] [/youtube] codes that we used in the old forums no longer works. instead, the new code is [media] [/media]. Also, instead of the ending youtube video code that you paste in the middle, now you have to paste the entire link.

I thought that the change meant that video embedding from other sites would be supported now… but a test with links from youku and tuduo shows that… i was wrong -.-''' zzzzzzzzzzzz

 

4) Announcements are on every forum as was before, and there is a nice divider between the announcements and pinned threads...

BUT nothing between the pinned and unpinned threads. -.-'''

Only difference? that small green pinned word at the beginning. Hard to tell apart really...

I know a lot of forums do this…. but i don't like it :X

Hard to tell the pinned and unpinned threads apart… and most of the time the pinned threads are pretty dead and i just wanna zoom to the unpinned and alive threads...

 

5) Limit of 10 pictures per post…… For a while. like last week or last last week when i tried to update the hero's lounge, i realised that some pics were just not showing and only the 1st 10 pics of each post would be shown. Today however, i realised that all my pics in the training grounds guide were fine. A quick test confirmed that the 10 pictures per post limit has been removed… i sure hope the limit aint coming back

 

6) the new forums is kinda dead...

yeah granted, i did go back to chat in the backyard… but generally its still rather… dead.

Seems like a lot of ppl don't like the new forums and aint visiting much if at all… the hero's lounge is like… almost dead now. Doesn’t help that flame's off to army today too :X

 

7) I'm still… a post king? :X

visiting the member's page and sorting by post count we have: 

previously there was some bug report bot account with close to 80k posts, but that's been properly removed from the member list now… making me 2nd place in the post counts :X

and the thing is i don't even know how come i have more posts then like most of the pcws in backyard. i did check out the backyard for a while last year, but before that i already had like most posts then almost everyone (besides c7 i guess). And all i did was chat in the lounge :X

I thought there would be loads of ppl from the original play park forums with loads of posts too but… i guess not… :X

 

8) my post per day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

used to be around the region of 15-16 posts per day, but now they remove all the 'inactive' posts when counting so…

see 7k posts in the warriors hall… i not pcw in backyard ok!

 

8) new status updates thingy. just like Facebook.

9) there used to be some member groups thingy with sub forums in each group… but all gone now

 

10) gone too are all those awards (ok, those where gone quite some time back too)

 

11) no more exciting forum titles like forum paladin. We can have custom user titles tho so I'm not complaining XD

 

12) To unlock forum features……..

All you have to do is "Like" our Playpark Facebook page!!

Hit 10K Likes and we will make the Custom Profile Picture feature available!

Hit 50K Likes and the Member-to-Member Email function will be made available!
Q : How does this work?
A : One can only email another member if that other person has allowed emails to be received.

100K Likes will give you the ability to view you repped/de-repped you on the forums.
This was suggested back at the old forums and we heard you!

And last but not least! Custom Avatar unlockable with 150K Likes!!
Q : What is the difference between Custom Profile Picture and Custom Avatar?
A : Avatars can be seen at the side of every forum post that you make, whereas your Profile Picture will only be shown on the User Profile Page.

So...What are we waiting for? Get busy and get clicking!! Remember to invite your friends and buddies to help you out too. Eventhough they may not be Forumites, but they can be a part of the Playpark Family too ^^

13) Archive!

Loads of thread (those w/o any new post this year) have been archived… including my old training ground thread.

However, searching through the archive just now, i realised that my very 1st training ground thread was gone. Hero's lounge? All gone too… -.-''' seems like a lot of the older threads were just deleted… there goes our years of lounge history T.T that's like 51 lounges GONE!!! FIFTY ONE! Gosh! T.T

 

14) No more rep boxes. On the profile page your rep description hits excellent once you get 50 reps too… kinda easy yeah? Now you can rep diff  posts by the same person, and you can rep 10 posts per day… so that makes it easier to get reps...

 

15) New notifications centre thingy.

by default it lets you know when someone quotes your post, or when those in your friends list update their status. You can change these in the settings in your user control panel...

 

Okays… i guess I'm done with the forums for now...

 

oh yes… last fri had cht. sad thing was i dced right as cht was summoned. I guess i really need to restart my lappy just b4 cht and not on any other programs… dunnoe if there'll be cht this fri… if there is i really hope i don't dc again :X

else it'll mean my comp cmi for cht and that'll make me really very sad indeed. haiz.

New forums!

 Welcome to the new Forums!

So the maplestory forums have been moved to playpark forums late last night... and i managed to get my tagging process completed too. Cos i made a playpark id with the same username as my old forum nick, posts made by my old forum nick were changed to be made by AP_darkiller... and during the tagging i had to use that as the username else i couldnt log in. I wanted to keep my old userid (tho the new one was identical) as well as all my stats... esp all my stats! like the join date and post counts :X... so i tagged my account and checked the box... only the fret later that whether my user id will end up getting changed to AP_XXX :X

So i posted in the login thread and the mod kindly assured me that she'll automatically remove all AP_ prefixes from the userid. Phew. Must say that this forum migration gave me a great impression of Astrea... with like so many requests and everything, she still replied to the qns and rather quickly too... partly cos it was still early and not THAT many requests have gone in yet? Either way, a round of applause to Astrea! i bet she's swamped in requests and all by now... of ppl who missed the once in a lifetime opportunity to tag and later want to tag... she even had a post double checking whether some ppl who picked not to keep the id really meant it that way... that totally surprised me. Like... with so many ppl... why u bothered to check? :X

A couple of loungers took the opportunity to change forum nick, or to 'revive' an old banned account... some even decided to start anew and not tag.

Oh yeah... a couple to things to note:

- If you're a thread starter of some important threads... like guides or job discussion threads, i'd advise you to tag because you wouldnt have control over those posts otherwise (cant edit the posts anymore, since you've become a different user). If its just some selling thread with not many other ppl posting inside... then you can just make a new thread no biggie.

- after tagging with ASF account is the the dot that says newbie and all is strangely gone..

- and i can have a 3-lined siggy (since siggies are brought over from the old site when tagging)... but once change anything they want it to be kept to 2 lines le -.-

- new forums uses the thread name as url... i think this is badddd... guess it means i cant play ard with the thread title anymore eh? also means like the lounge with a super long thread title has a super long url :X

i really dont like the 2 lines limitation for siggies :X

The new forum also keeps the 1st post at the top of every page... and the spacing in the new forums in like ultra big. So the 1st thing i did after the tagging was completed was to edit the 1st post... made it more compact and added a RIP and Reincarnation list XD

Wondering if i should move the lounge's super long history to the 2nd post just so that we dont have to keep seeing that horrendously long thing (over 50 past threads! that's 50 lines of now outdated url!)

AS Forums Shift house!

So AS forums have entered a period of blackout... and will be shifting to the playpark forums come 18th July.

I pray that nothing goes wrong with the migration. Cos i'm too lazy to save a copy of the hero's lounge opening posts + my now severely outdated training grounds guide. Hopefully all those gets migrated nicely. And the account tagging too... with 27k posts (real close to 28k now) under my belt, I really hope to keep that little bit of my gaming history. Got me worried for a while cos I made a new playpark acct a while back when the forum migration notice came up... but didnt get the option to tag to my current account. Apparently the tagging will only start when the new forums are up.

So much so for the supposed 7 hours of 2x exp.

I was actually expecting something like that to happen honesty... like they forgot to activate the 2x, or epic lag, or server/channel crash... or rollbacks... but what do we have now? Just a extremely long urgent server check. Trolled by AS... but that's really the norm these days.

And what do bored maplers do? We troll back.

Forum Getting Faster? Or not?

Hmmm is the forum getting faster or not? Previously was still taking years to load… now it seems a slight little bit better… but regardless… the lag was enough to stop me from spamming in AS backyard already… and enough to put my whole lounge into deserted mode. It was getting all lively already and now… its all dead again. Doesn’t help that i'm hardly on maple or the forums, but even than i'm still like… the most frequent poster there? There was once i got 5 posts in a row or smthing over the course of 2 or 3 days… yes… no one else visited… makes it kind of lonely yeah?
oh yeah… and i reached forum paladin long ago...

At the rate things are going though… i'm never ever gonna update the hero's lounge 1st page, or my training grounds guide anymore… in fact, i'm closer to quitting maple than anything else… meh… if not for last week's ht, i'm all ready to let go and quit maple… guess you can say that i've semi quitted already… actually i have semi quitted since the time i hit 200… or even before that… (just that i made that last desperate serge to hit 200). Now there isn't much to do… an occasional pvp for the BP, or exp on other chars… hunting a bit of dews… or getting the excavation points…

managed to get this medal… 10 spd and 10 jump is pretty good, but i already have max spd and jump so… meh… maybe i should try and get this medal on evan and mech… oh… and UA…. it'll be quite useful… :X

Managed to get this power suit coupon from the artifact hunt gift box… meh… another item to take up my use inv slot… as you can see…. i still have all the hot air ballon etc mob riding skills from the event super duper long ago… i shd just use them up, take SSes, and be done with it or smthing :S
The 2nd gift box i got gave me carrot juice… which gave 100 or 150 insight when used… or something… watever… all i knew was that my insight managed to lvl up once… and the item is untradable so yeah...
oh yes… have i ever posted this before? The hero lounge banners - which are a bit outdated now but still nice anyway… made by saphy n oodin...

Mass banning in forums - trying to cover their backside?

Seems like there's mass banning in forums... mass locking of threads too... trying to surpress the truth about the situation eh? *clap* Ppl getting banned for posting abt crashes and roll backs??? WOW. GO FIX THE SEVER PROBLEMS INSTEAD DUDES.

Heard that maple accts are getting slammed with 3 year bans for no reason... i sure hope my accts didnt get banned... still have not logged in maple so...

On a side note: i cant stand ppl who pay tons of cash to buy maple items and mesos, than go ard showing off their damage. Its precisely cos of these ppl that hackers flourish. They have the 'if i dont buy, someone else will still buy' kind of WRONG mentality... really cant stand those ppl... not just the fact that they are using the wrong method to get their results... i also don't see anything to flaunt abt... its not like you did any hardwork for it... u merely paid up. trying to flaunt off your riches? go elsewhere pls.

Forum ranking...?

AS forums introduced a new feature a while back... lvls and exp points... and awards! just got the activity and posting award so now i have 2 out of the 6 awards muahaha. its taking them super long to introduce the lvl and exp feature tho, so many ppl still don't have the feature activated yet -.-

i am now a Forum Crusader! yay! my own class at last haha! i saw someone with 30k posts and the title forum hero tho... whee, i'll be a Hero someday lol.


haven mapled since i hit 200... and haven played much of trickster too, just logging in once a day to do the daily TM quests than logging off right after that.

Rep Points n Power

Went on maple for the sole purpose of the paint event and ani raid... finished hunting paint for the rest of the event on hero and sm... already done so on evan and UA so no more hunting till the event ends! still have not made up my mine on which char(s) to next... already got one for my UA and that's all...

Anyway... AS forums enabled the rep points and rep power options... here's how they work. Rep points is something like fame in maple... just an indication of how popular you are... You are up someone's rep by clicking on the weighing scale on the bottom left hand side of their post and selecting the 'I approve' option. You can only give out reps 3 times a day, and you have to give some no. of ppl rep before going back to give rep to the same person. Still no idea how much that number is.

Rep Power comes into play when you increase the rep of other's. How much their rep increases by depends on your rep power. If you have 4 rep power, their rep will increase by 4 correspondingly.

vBulletin lets the admin set how rep power is counted etc... previously i had 30 rep, but than they changed the rules and now i have only 7 rep... here's how rep power and rep points work. Info posted by mod Enstryne in this thread:

Rep Power:

Default New Member Rep Power = 1
Default New Member Rep Points = 50
Every 365 Days (After Joined Date) = +1 Rep Power
Every 1000 Rep Points = +1 Rep Power
Every 10000 Posts = +1 Rep Power

Rep Points and the green blocks

Disabled = Black Rep Block
~0 = Grey Rep Block
1~99 = 1 Rep Block
100~199 = 2 Rep Block

And so on until 1500~ = 11 Rep Block (God Mode)

Mods can change their rep and the rep of others at will so... yeah...

Indeed... even the maple forums are down since this morning. I didnt train yest either, heard there were loads of server crashes. There was once when all the sg gateway crashed except for aquila... that didnt last long tho, aquila crashed later on... basically maple is getting unplayable. So much so for me wanting to hit lvl 200 during my sch hols lol... now i'm still quite far away from 199 -.-'''

Nevermind... been having some fun in trickster... shamelessly spent some cash (paid thru paypal) and got myself a 90 day adventurer cape... which i comped with HP... something desperately needed by a 1441 dragon... now i have a neat 7.7k hp XD

Currently at lvl 126/104... wanna hit 3rd job before 5th Oct so i can get the rewards...! 14/16 more lvls to go! gotta prepare all the job change items too... cant wait to hit lvl 170... promised myself the myshop eq set so yeah... motivation for me to reach that lvl i guess! cant wait to max out my dark barrier too, that would help tons with my survivability... ah and i guess i'll be going for gravity crash right after dark barrier... its really a pain to have to kill the mobs slowly one by one... since i'm not into pvp, i think gravity crash would work great to help me take care of those pesky mobs. heck, now i'm even wishing that i had skills like mana ring, or mana storm. gotta lvl more... drill and drill... loads of drilling to do for the quests...!

New AS Forum Look

The AS forum mods went tinkering with the forum features.. and we got some changes to the forums which made the lounge abuzz with activity for quite a while...

New features/look and bugs?:
- The avatar and username etc are all one the left of the post in a neat column rather than on top of the post... basically it now follows the standard look on most forums.
- User titles are now available/back. The mods had some trouble deciding which rank 24k posts or more users should belong to though.. more on that later.
- Custom user titles got removed for some users... (like me T.T) but it stays for some other ppl. Can't find the option to change the custom user title in User CP... seems like it has been removed
- You can now add other forumites as friends
- You can now change the color options on your public profile
- You can now leave visitor messages on other ppl's profiles
- PM function is finally available. However you get a misery inbox space of TEN messages ONLY.
- There's this thing called social groups, which allows you to add forumites to a group you make just like in facebook. The group can be public, invite only, or moderated (i'm guessing this means ppl can request enter the group?). The only group feature that is working now is the discussion board though... there seems to be features like photo, but it says i don't have the authority to access it... so i guess its not on. Made a group for the lounge but its pretty much redundant.
- Your total posts is now displayed below your avatar.
- You can once again see the WP of other forumites. sighz... my stupid 0 out of 5. T.T
- Rep system is back, though right now it doesn’t do anything (except for letting users with 10 rep have a green box below their avatar)
- Stickied threads are now Maroon and in Italics

Well the mods were playing around with the forum features and stuff.. the Stickied threads changed from blue and FLASHING (at least its flashing when you view from firefox, its doesn’t flash when you view from chrome and safari tho), to bright red, to finally Maroon. The flashing one was really horrible... very distracting.... red was better than the flashing text, but a bit too bright. i guess the mod was reading users' comments and stuff, cos as we complained, he changed.

User titles too... for those with lower post counts it didn’t change... but for me with 24k post counts... it changed like this: Forum Wizard --> Forum Archer (stay at archer for quite a while than suddenly...) --> Forum Rogue (than in less than 5 minutes) --> Forum Spearman (stayed for just a few minutes at most too, than back to...) --> Forum Wizard.

Still hoping to be called Forum Hero or Forum Warrior. So far after he finally settled on wizard it hasn’t changed tho. Noticed the rest of the titles are still around, but for users with lesser number of posts. Saw someone with 29k posts and the same rank as me... so Forum Wizard is probably the last rank available? Unless there's a new rank at 30k posts? i don't know... not gonna hit 30k posts anytime soon so yeah...

i'm quite sad that my custom title is GONE... it just says 'Regular Member' now... sighz... so boring...! give us back the option to change the user title pls!

heh... i guess the forums will not be migrating anymore eh...? which is good i guess... i do want to keep my 24k posts record :P

EDIT: new rank! i'm now a Forum Priest. Now where's Forum Hero? thought they were done with playing with the ranks yest but guess i was wrong

EDIT again: ok... seems like Forum Inquisitor is the highest rank... wonder how many posts you need to get that rank... 30k posts? 50k posts? o.o
